English Preparation Checklist for University Applicants
Use this worksheet before choosing an English test or booking preparation lessons. It helps you turn several university applications into a clear list of English tasks. It is not an official admissions checklist.
1. Make one record per university
Write the university, degree, intake and link to the official requirements. Record the deadline and time zone. Do not copy requirements from one institution into another institution’s record.
- University and programme: ____________________
- Official requirements link: ____________________
- Application deadline and time zone: ____________________
2. Separate requirements from practice goals
Check what evidence the university accepts and what applies to your circumstances. Separately, list the English skills you want to strengthen. A test result and confidence in academic discussion are different goals.
- Required English evidence, if any: ____________________
- Reporting deadline and instructions: ____________________
- Questions to ask the admissions office: ____________________
3. Plan a repeatable study week
Choose specific tasks rather than simply writing “study English”. For example, read a short academic text and explain its main argument, revise one paragraph or record an answer to a relevant practice question.
- Reading or listening task: ____________________
- Writing task and feedback: ____________________
- Speaking practice and review time: ____________________
4. Keep your application your own
For a written task, keep the official prompt, your notes and your drafts. Check the university’s rules on help and authorship. Practise explaining why you chose each example; do not memorise a statement written by someone else.
- Prompt and word limit: ____________________
- My real example and what it shows: ____________________
- One language improvement to practise: ____________________
5. Decide what support you need
Bring this worksheet to a lesson enquiry. Tell the teacher where you need feedback and which dates are fixed. If you are invited to an interview, add it to the plan rather than assuming every application includes one.
- Current English level or last result: ____________________
- Most important skill to improve: ____________________
- Time available for lessons and independent practice: ____________________

Your questions, answered
Can I use this for AUA and US applications?
Yes, as an English planning worksheet. Make separate records and follow each university’s official instructions. It does not replace an institution’s application checklist.
Do I have to register to use the guide?
No. Read it online, or use the print button to print or save a copy.
